Subaru is positively bullish on the United States. Less than a month after Subaru said it would expand its only plant in North America, word comes out that Fuji Industries, Subaru’s momma, would like to have a plant up and running in the U.S. by April 2015.
Auto-industry observers believe that Subaru will use the plant to build either the Forester crossover or the Impreza compact. A new plant is definitely needed since its only plant, the one in Lafayette, Indiana, is already operating at full capacity producing Outbacks and Legacys along with the odd Toyota Camry now and then under a contract with Toyota.
This news is especially big because it brings to an end Subaru’s earlier plans to expand in China.
